NFU v Stafford Rangers (Evo Prem)

Match Preview

North Ferriby United  v Stafford Rangers
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Saturday 16 February 2013  KO 3.00 pm

League leaders Ferriby entertain Stafford Rangers on Saturday. Stafford are 11th in the table and are still hoping to reach a promotion play-off place.

Following last Saturday's games, The Villagers are now six points clear of second-placed Hednesford Town at the top of the table.

Ferriby go in to this game on the back of a seven game winning streak. Six of the wins have come in the League and the other was over Hessle Rangers in the East Riding Senior Cup.

Manager Billy Heath will be looking to his team to extend this sequence to keep the pressure on Hednesford and the chasing pack.

Last Saturday's win at Witton Albion showed Ferriby's character and determination. Ferriby really did not play well in the first half but their determination still saw them lead 3-2 at half-time. They were the better team in the second-half and fully deserved their win

Heath was pleased with the result. "We weren't at our best but the attitude of the players  was good. The pitch was heavy and cutting-up so it was difficult to play the ball on the ground."

Heath should have a full squad to choose from apart from Dean Lisles.  Experienced defender Paul Robson, who has been released by Lincoln City, has been signed as defensive cover following Lisles' injury

Possible Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Steve Ridley, Steve Gardner, Gregg Anderson, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Oliver Banks, Paul Robson

The much postponed Doodson Sport Cup tie against Sheffield has been switched to Ferriby and will now be played on Tuesday 19 February.

Ferriby have been drawn against Bridlington Town in the East Riding Senior Cup Semi-Final. It will be played at the Roy West Centre, Inglemire Lane, Hull on Tuesday 19 March, KO 7.30pm
