NFU v Scunthorpe United (PSF)

North Ferriby United v Scunthorpe United
Saturday 8 July 2017
Eon Visual Media Stadium
 Kick-off 3.00pm

Pre-season Friendly

Ferriby entertain League One Scunthorpe United in their first home pre-season friendly.

Scunthorpe lost in the League one play-off semi-final  last season but reaching that stage shows the quality that is in their squad.

The game will see a return to The Eon Visual Media Stadium for keeper Rory Watson, midfielder Levi Sutton and striker Kyle Wootton. All three of them played for The Villagers last season in The National league.

The game will present a stiff challenge to Steve Housham’s side. Housham and assistant manager Darryn Stamp are still assembling their squad after a number of players left during the close season.

Housham comments,
I know it must be frustrating for the fans who are wanting to know who’s coming in and who’s leaving  but we can say that everyone was offered a deal for this season after the fantastic effort by the squad in the National League. I know several players have departed for more money and full-time contracts but that’s expected in any level of the game.”

Housham and Stamp are still recruiting players for the forthcoming National League North season.  The squad for the Scunthorpe game is likely to include a number of triallists. They are likely to include younger players keen to make a mark at this level of football and possibly some older players who will be looking to re-establish themselves.

Housham again,

“Games against Football League clubs are always a challenge for players at our level. However, it is a chance for our players to show what they can do. Many are young enough to still gain a place in a full-time professional side and it is an opportunity for them to impress.”

NFU squad: Ross Durrant, Lewis Excel, Tom Bruce, Ben Bowers, Dale Dennett, Kojo Kyei, Eddie Rogerson, Russell Fry, Mark Gray, Jake Skelton, Jordan Cooke, Jake Picton, Simon Russell, Sam Ansu, Bobby Johnson, Sam Walker, Leigh Hutchinson, Danny Emerton, Mitch Allington, Kallum Findlay, Joe Pugh, Curtis Bateson, Steve Brogan

Admission to the game is pay-at-the-gate. Prices are £10 and £5 for concessions. Under-12s are free if accompanied by a full-paying adult.

Season passes will be available for collection at the club shop. They are not valid for pre-season games
