North Ferriby United v Rotherham United
Wednesday 26 July 2017
Eon Visual Media Stadium
Ferriby play their penultimate pre-season friendly when League One Rotherham United visit The Eon Visual Media Stadium on Wednesday.
Results have been mixed for The Villagers but that is to be expected. The academy has played a number of those games and when Steve Housham has fielded his First Team squad he has made frequent changes as he give opportunities to triallists plus some of the academy players.
Rotherham will obviously provide a tough challenge for Ferriby but it is the type of fixture that generally brings out the best in players. Most of Ferriby’s squad has been at full-time clubs and the younger members, in particular, will be looking to impress as they seek a second opportunity.
As happened on many occasions last season, Ferriby were given a lesson in clinical finishing in the defeat to Halifax on Monday. For the most part, the two sides were evenly matched.
Manager Steve Housham commented,
“We still need to work on defensive issues. We are looking very good at the centre of defence with some experienced players but we need to be tighter at full-back.
“I have a good idea of the basic squad but we are still looking at players and they will probably get a chance against Rotherham anfd Frickley.
“Steve Brogan will, hopefully get some game-time in at least one of those matches. He needs to prove his fitness but he will be a big asset if he is fit.”
Possible Ferriby squad: Ross Durrant, Lewis Exall, Aaron Bretell, Jordan Cooke, Jake Skelton, Bobby Johnson, Mitch Langton, Jake Picton, Simon Russell, Alberto, Joel Ambalu, Joe Pugh, Danny Emerton, Russell Fry, Curtis Bateson, Steve Brogan, Leigh Hutchinson, Kojo Kyei, Eddie Rogerson, Jack Barlow, Callum Rzonca
