FA Trophy Second Round
North Ferriby United v Hyde
Saturday 10th January 2015 ; KO 3.00 pm
Ferriby return to FA Trophy action when Hyde visit the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Saturday.
Ferriby will start favourites but they will not need reminding that Hyde beat them 1-0 at Hyde at the beginning of December in a Vanarama Conference League game.
Struggling Hyde have recently appointed Gary Lowe and Martyn Booty as manager and assistant-manager respectively. Lowe and Booyty led Hyde to the 2011-12 conference North title so are no strangers to this level of football. Their first game in charge on their return was last Sunday when Hyde gained a confidence boosting4-4 draw with high-flying Barrow.
A new manager often invigorates a team but The Villagers will be keen to dent Hyde’s optimism. The Villagers reached the quarter-finals last season and will be looking for another good run this season.
Last season’s Trophy run engendered a lot of excitement at the club and with most of the current squad having played last season they know they have the ability to do well in this competition.
Ferriby are putting together some good results and are also playing some positive and attractive football. However, results and performances against lower-placed or struggling clubs have not always been good in cup competitions.
Ferriby manager Billy Heath will be reminding his players that they will need to be at their best and be in the right frame of mind if they are to beat Hyde.
Last Sunday’s draw at Gloucester was well-deserved but it needed an added-time equaliser from Nathan Jarman to secure the point. With late goals in the last two games, there is certainly no doubting Ferriby’s determination to always seek something from a match.
Heath’s selection problems are easing but there are doubts about Liam King and Nathan Jarman. Danny Clarke returns to the squad after being unavailable on Sunday. Defender Grant Black has been released from his contract by mutual consent.
NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Louis Bruce, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Mark Gray, Gregg Anderson, Danny Hone, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry, Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Ryan Kendall, Jason St Juste, Jamie Yates, Tim Taylor, Danny Clarke
As this is a cup game, season passes are not valid. Usual admission prices apply.
If a replay is required it will take place at Hyde on Monday 12th January with a 7.45pm kick-off.
