NFU 2 Ilkeston 0 (PSF)

Pre-season friendly

North Ferriby United   2                Ilkeston FC  0
Nathan Jarman 36;
Tom Denton 48

Ferriby had the greater possession during the first-half but determined defence from Ilkeston restricted The Villagers’ chances. Tom Denton almost gave Ferriby the lead after four minutes. His first shot rebounded off the post and his follow-up was cleared off the line.

Ferriby’s pressing game made it hard for Ilkeston to develop attacks and home keeper Adam Nicklin was not really threatened. N one occasion he beat Joey Grandison to a through ball and later dealt with a difficult cross.

Ilkeston keeper Jordan smith was by far the busier of the two keepers. He dealt well with a number of teasing crosses. However, Ferriby made no significant chances before finally taking the lead after 36 minutes

Jon D’Laryea, Dean Lisles and Tom Corner combined well down the right to allow Nathan Jarman to hammer the ball high into the net from 15-yards.

Tom Corner fired a shot at Reid and Akil wright made an acrobatic clearance from an Adam Bolder cross.

The second-half was a more even affair. Denton’s downward header from Bolder’s chipped cross after 48 minutes doubled Ferriby’s lead.

Bolder was unlucky when he flicked the ball past the advancing Smith only to see Kuwesi Ofushine clear.

However, Ilkeston came back in to the game. Russell Fry dispossessed Luke Shaw as he was about to shoot. Nicklin then made a good double save, parrying James Reid’s drive and saving Joey Grandison’s follow-up shot.

With the game going from end-to-end. Jarman had a shot saved before Massiah McDonald shot wide foIlkseton.

Ferriby almost had the last word but Jordan Smith made a great one-handed save from Russ Fry.

Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented, “It was another good performance. They (Ilkeston) came at us more in the second=half but that is always likely you happen when you make so many changes.
