North Ferriby United 1   Ilkeston FC 1

A late equaliser from Ryan Kendall gave Ferriby a deserved point against a stubborn Ilkeston FC side.

Both sides went close in the opening point with Adam Nicklin tipping overJjames Reid's 20 yard drive and danny Clarke's low drive being parried by Chris Martin.

Ferriby then started to apply pressure with Clarke and Ben hunter both having shots charged down. Ferriby should have taken the lead after 12 minutes when Ryan Williams was fouled by Joe Wilcox in the area. Williams took the penalty himself but his shot was saved by Martin diving to his left.

Ilkeston took the lead in the 22nd minute. Joe Maguire's free-kick found Gary rickets and his back-header somehow found its way past Adam Nicklin.

This spurred Ferriby but clear-cut chances were hard to come by. Clarke, Russell Fry and Kendall all went close but the equaliser proved elusive.

Ilkeston defended well against the high ball and were quick and positive on the break but they created no serious chances.

Ferriby exerted a lot of pressure in the second-half and Ilkeston continued to threaten on the break.

Fry saw a shot go wide and Clarke was crowded-out by Martin and a defender as he closed down on goal.

Kendall headed a Williams cross over the bar.

The ball would just not fall for Ferriby in the Ilkeston area. Loose balls seemed to end-up at the feet of Ilkeston players and crosses and shots were deflected.

The equaliser finally came in the 88th minute when a spell of continuous pressure ended with Kendall firing home from close range.

Manager Billy Heath said afterwards, "We certainly deserved at least a point. We put a lot of pressure on them and created chances. Like a lot of teams who come here, they put a lot of players behind the ball once they went ahead and we just had to be patient."
