Gainsborough Trinity v North Ferriby United
Thursday 26 December 2013
Kick-off 3.00 pm
North Ferriby make the short trip to Gainsborough on Boxing Day.
The Villagers dropped to fourth after Saturday’s home defeat to Colwyn Bay and are three points behind leaders Hednesford Town. Gainsborough are comfortably in mid-table with 24 points from their 19 games.
The situation at the top of the Skrill North is tight with seven points covering the top eight teams. Ferriby will be looking for a good result at Gainsborough in order to cement their place in the top five.
Saturday’s loss to Colwyn was a bid disappointment, especially as Ferriby were the better team for much of the game. They were undone in a 15 minute spell in the first-half during which Bay scored three times. Ferriby overran Bay in the second-half but could not find the equaliser that their efforts deserved. As well as the goal blitz from Colwyn, The Villagers were left to rue a number of crucial refereeing decisions that went against them.
Manager Billy Heath was left feeling disappointed after the game, “It was frustrating today. A mad 15 minutes cost us the game. The attitude in the second-half was pleasing but we left ourselves with too much to do. It was a disappointing result but it was our first defeat in 11 games sow e need to put it in perspective.”
Heath should have a full squad to choose from apart from Mark Gray who should be back in contention for the Bradford game on Saturday. New signing Dan Clayton made his debut against Colwyn Bay and will remain in the squad to face his former club..
