FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

East Riding Cup Action on Tuesday

East Riding Senior Cup

Third Round

North Ferriby United v Westella & Willerby

Tuesday 12 February 2019

Kick-off 7.45 pm

Ferriby take a break from league action when they play Westella & Willerby at The Chadwick Stadium on Tuesday in the third round of the East Riding Senior Cup.

The Senior Cup represents The Villagers’ only chance of winning a trophy this season. They will start favourites against their Humber Premier League opponents but it will not be an easy game.

The winners of the tie will play Bridlington Town in the semi-final.

The competition has lost a little of its prestige now that the final is no longer played at the KCOM Stadium. That venue, and its predecessor, Boothferry Park, was a massive incentive for players. It was also a good evening out for the fans.

Even so, the clubs that enter are always determined to win it, if only because it gives them local bragging rights.

Ferriby go in to the game on the back of another home defeat. The performance against Workington on Saturday was workmanlike but Ferriby struggled to really create scoring opportunities. Once again, they were let down at set pieces and conceded the two goals due to sloppy defending.

Manager Joe Lamplough, who has taken on the role  comments,

due to Paul Foot having to stand down due to work commitments,

“We obviously want to win on Tuesday and go on to win the cup. Despite our results this season, we’re still the biggest non-league club in the area. We know that teams in this cup raise their game against Ferriby.

“We have to go into the game with confidence and make sure we get a result.

I don’t want to see a scrappy performance but sometimes when you’re in the situation we’re in you’ve just got to get a result.

“We’re definitely going in to the game to win it. I may play on Tuesday. The depth in the squad is a bit thin at the moment. “

Lamplough will play his strongest possible side but he will be without keeper Lewis Exall who is unavailable. That could mean a debut for Isaac Adnitt, Johnny Saltmer or Lewis Hill. Leon Smith returns from suspension.

Ferriby’s squad: Isaac Adnitt, Lewis Hill, Johnny Saltmer, Jordan Windass, Ben Leyland, Jack Smith, Jack Mail, James Piercy, Dan Nichols, Leon Smith, Joe Lamplough, Josh Vickers, Niah Payne,  Jake Martindale, Gary Bradshaw, Callum Harrison, James Nichols, Joseph Robinson, Aaron Brettell

Admission is £4 and £2for concessions. Season passes are not valid for this game. The usual bar and catering facilities will be available. The South Stand will not be open.
