Vanarama National League North
Bradford Park Avenue 0 North Ferriby 1
A second win of the season at last for Ferriby! And it was well-deserved.
This was an organised and composed performance by The Villagers who frustrated Bradford with an organised and composed display.
Ferriby debutant Lewis Collins capped a positive display with the only goal of the game after 19 minutes.
The game itself had little of note in the way of action. Bradford nad the greater possession and territory but their play lackd composure and they carried very little goal threat. In fact, Ferriby actually looked the more dangerous near goal and could have had more than a single goal.
Bradford’s passing game was poor with way too many wasted passes. This, obviously played in to Ferriby’s hands but credit should also go to The Villagers midfield and defence for forcing so many errors.
It was Bradford who had the first serious goal attempt with Jordan piercey blocking a shot on the 18–yard line..
A minute later and Ferriby were in front. Good work from Luke Lofts put in Collins. The player still had work to do but he carved himself an opening to fire-in an angled shot. It may have been slightly against the run-of-play but it was the first attempt that was on target from either side.
The only real threat to Ross durrant saw the keeper produce a flying one-handed save to turn a Dan Pybus shot for a corner. All of Bradford’s other attempts were off-target.
The second-half opened with Durrant making a good save from Adam Boyes. Ferriby had more of the game in the second-half. Home keeper Syteve Drench did well to block Josh Walker as he burst through. Ferriby manager Chris Bolder was delighted after the game,
James Piercey and JackMail are improving every game as a centre-back pairing. They won most of the high balls in or around the penalty area and Durrant was confident and secure with those that got behind them.
Kojo Kyei and Jordan Cooke were impressive on the flanks and both even found time to get forward at times.
Collins almost score a second in the final minutes when his first shot was blocked and his second was saved by Drench.
All-in-all, a great performance for Ferriby and a massive boost for Chris Bolder and his team.
“We were really solid today. We kept a great shape and everybody worked so hard.
“You could see that the game meant something to the players and they wanted to hold on to the lead.
“We’ve been working hard in training and the improvement is there for everybody to see.
“It’s great for us all to get this win and, hopefully, it will be a massive boost to our confidence.”
