Boston United v NFU (VCN)

Vanarama Conference North
Boston United v North Ferriby United

Saturday 23rd  August  2014; KO 3.00pm

Ferriby will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they visit Boston United  on Saturday. The Villagers have won two and drawn one of their opening games.

Ferriby will need to give a much better performance against Boston that they managed against Gloucester last Saturday. Ferriby lacked their usual cohesion and control against Gloucester and were probably fortunate to gain a point in the end. It may go down as a “bad day at the office” but the players will be looking to put the game behind them and pick-up at least a point at Boston.

Despite only drawing with Gloucester, The villagers have enjoyed a successful start to the season. They have been notoriously slow starters over the years and have often had to play catch-up to climb the table. It is important that they maintain the good start in what is going to be another very competitive season in a league in which there are no easy game.

Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented, “It was not a good performance against Gloucester. We lacked any sort of control and conceded two poor goals. We created very little in the way of chances. In the end, we were happy to take a point.

I expect the players to respond very positively at Boston. They did exactly that last season after the occasional poor performance. They know they let themselves down against Gloucester and will want to put that right.”

Danny Hone is available for selection following a three game suspension. Gregg Anderson is unavailable. Anderson’s absence will mean that Heath will have to make at least one change to hi line-up  after playing an unchanged side in the first three games.

NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Dean Lisles, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Danny Hone Matt Wilson, Mark Gray, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Adam Bolder, Danny Emerton, Russell Fry,  Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Tom Corner, Jamie Yates, Louis Bruce, Tim Taylor, Dan Clayton, Matty Kingston

Ferriby play Harrogate Town at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday with a 3pm kick-off.
