Ferriby face a tough task in Sunday’s second-leg after a stunning finish deep in added time gave Boston a two goal cushion for the second-leg.

Ferriby could have little complaint about the result but, to some exten the scorline  was a little harsh as the second goal came from a huge stroke of luck. Kaine Felix totally mishit his shot which flew high across the area to be met by the incoming Mills. His shot was unstoppable and gave Adam Nicklin absolutely no chance.

Boston opened the game strongly and had the better of the first-half. They looked threatening virtually every time they attacked and Adam Nicklin was certainly the busier of the two keepers.

Nicklin did well to parry a Dayle Southwell shot after just three minutes and the striker was a handful throughout the game.

The Villagers rarely looked like scoring but Boston keeper Fabian Spiess did well to block Curtis bateson’s low shot with his legs on eight minutes.

After that, the half largely belonged to Boston. Nicklin saved well from Carl piergianni then turned a shot on to the post.

Boston were not to be denied and scored after 23 minutes. Felix won the ball near the half-way and galloped down the right to the goal line. His low pass was touched on by Scott Garner to Grant Boberts who scored with a lowshot just inside the right-hand post.

Nicklin did well to turn a Piergianni header on to the bar as Boston continued to press forward. Ferriby defended well on the whole but struggled to get a grip in midfield. This limited their attacking opportunities.

Southwell should probably have scored just before half-time but shot wide as Nicklin came out to narrow the angle.

The second-half saw Ferriby have more of the possession and territory but Spiess only had two fairly routine shots to save from Curtis Bateson and Liam King.

Boston looked relatively comfortable in defence and still loomed threatening in attack. The Pilgrims won most of the midfield battles. They were unlucky after 82 minutes. Jay Rollins latched on to a mistake and hammered a cross-shot against the far post.

It was looking as if The Villagers would travel back to Ferry just one goal behind. Mills’ Stunning finish ensured it would not be so.

Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented,

“We did not get in to the game tonight. We had a little spell after half-time but we ha e no complaints with the result. The better team won on the night and we have a big job to do in the second-leg”
