Ashton United v NFU (Evo Prem)

Wednesday 7th March 3.00pm
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division

Ashton United v North Ferriby United

Ferriby travel across The Pennines to Ashton United for an  Evostik Premier Division match on Wednesday.  Both teams are among a group of eight clubs within five points of each other in mid-table.

The Villagers will be boosted after Saturday's 4-2 victory over Kendal Town. This was a dress rehearsal for the Doodson Sport League Cup semi-final at Ferriby on Wednesday 14th March.

Saturday's victory was the team's first league win of 2012. Manager billy heath willnow be expecting his players to build on this and finish the season in the top ten.

Ferriby put in a good performance on Saturday. They were behind at half-time following a unlucky own goal but controlled the second half. They loked to have sealed the game when Wayne Brooksby put them 3-1 ahead after 71 minutes but slack defending allowed Kendal to pull one back. Instead of sitting back to close-out the game, Ferriby continued to push forward and Ben Hunter sealed victory a minute from time.

Manager Billy Heath commented, "I thought we deserved our win. We played some positive football and showed our character after going behind. Our finishing was also good."

Steve Gardner should return to the squad following a one match suspension but Chris Bolder has another two matches to serve. Also in the squad will be Tom Richardson who has been signed on a month's loan from Lincoln City.  Richardson came on as a substitute on Saturday. Steve Wilson is unavailable and Wayne Brooksby is unlikely to play after picking-up an injury on Saturday.

Probable Ferriby Squad: Adam Nicklin, Rob Moy, Dominic Riordan, Nathan Peat, Paul Foot,  James Williams, Sam Denton, Steve Gardner, Kevin Larvin, Gregg Anderson, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Lee Morris, Ben Hunter, Timothy Taylor, Danny Clarke, Tom Richardson
