Witton Albion v North Ferriby United
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Saturday 9 February 2013 KO 3.00 pm
League leaders Ferriby Travel to Witton Albion on Saturday. Witton are fifth in the table and will be looking to close the gap on Ferriby as well as maintain their own promotion chase.
The Villagers are four points clear of second-placed Hednesford Town at the top of the table and it is going to be a challenging final third of the season for Ferriby as they attempt to maintain their promotion bid.
Ferriby go in to this game on the back of a six game winning streak. Five of the wins have come in the League and the other was the midweek win over Hessle Rangers in the East Riding Senior Cup.
Manager Billy Heath will be looking to his team to extend this sequence to keep the pressure on Hednesford and the chasing pack.
The enforced break due to poor weather does not seem to have unduly affected the players. Grantham were overpowered last Saturday and a full first eleven put six past Hessle as Heath used the game to give his squad player some pitch time.
Heath was pleased with both of the last two performances. "The players' response in the second-half against Grantham was superb and we certainly deserved to win. We controlled the game against Hessle from start to finish and put in a thoroughly professional performance."
Heath should have a full squad to choose from. Danny Clarke missed the midweek game with a minor injury but should be fit for Witton.
Possible Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Steve Ridley, Steve Gardner, Gregg Anderson, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Oliver Banks.
The coach to the game leaves at 10.45 am.
The four times postponed Doodson Sport Cup tie against Sheffield will now be played on Tuesday 12 February. A coach will be leaving at 4.30. The winners will play away at Blyth Spartans on the following Tuesday.
