FA Cup with Budweiser Second Qualifying Round
Whitby Town v North Ferriby United
Ferriby travel to Whitby on Saturday looking to put their league woes behind them. The Villagers will be hoping for a repeat of their first round win against Worksop.
Like Ferriby, Whitby have struggled in the first quarter of the season.
Caretaker managers Justin Whittle and Paul Foot know that their team is capable of victory. Ferriby have not played as poorly as results might indicate. Injuries to key players have not helped to produce a settled team.
Whitby are currently below the Villagers in the Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division.
However as Foot said, "League form goes out of the window on Saturday. It's a cup tie with all to play for on the day."
A win for Ferriby would be a massive boost to the team's confidence as well as providing a welcome increase in income from the prize money.
The defeat at Matlock on Wednesday was somewhat harsh on the Villagers. Within 30 seconds of Sam Mulready almost opening the scoring, Matlock broke away and scored with their first shot of the first half. Up to this point Ferriby had more than held their own.
The Villagers controlled the second half but just could not find a way through. Their performance certainly deserved something from the match.
Definitely out on Saturday are Chris Bolder and Ben Morley. Foot will be back on the squad and Wayne Brooksby returns from a one match suspension. Also in the squad will be new signing from York City Tom Clarke who made his debut at Matlock.
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, James Williams, Nathan Peat, Kevin Larvin, Paul Foot, Mark Greaves, Greg Wright, Sam Denton, Gary Bradshaw, Paul Harsley, Russell Fry, Sam Mulready, John Leonard, Mathew Stirland, Danny Wright, Tom Clarke, Rob Moy
