FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

Whitby Town v NFU (Evo Prem)

Whitby Town vNorth Ferriby United
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Saturday 12 January 2013  KO 3.00 pm

Ferriby will be looking to consolidate their position at the top of the League when they visit Whitby Town on Saturday. The Villagers go into this match with four successive wins behind them.

Ferriby manager Billy Heath is expecting a tough game, "Whitby are one of the form teams in the league at the moment so it is going to be a tough test for us. However, we are also playing well and creating chances and scoring goals.

Whitby have pulled themselves away from the relegation zone in recent weeks thanks to a six game unbeaten run that included a 5-2 win at Marine last Saturday. They did suffer a surprise defeat in the League Cup at Division One side Farsley FC in midweek.

Ferriby's four successive wins have seen them increase their lead over Hednesford to seven points. Heath has been delighted with his side's results. His team have dominated recent games but have ended up with some narrow victories due to not taking more of their chances to "kill-off" opponents. Heath commented, "We are creating chances but are not quite finishing-off teams at the moment. Being two goals ahead is not always a comfortable position to be in. You often need third goal to create a breathing space."

Heath will have to make some changes for the game. Goalkeeper Adam Nicklin is suspended which will give Antony Pecora  a chance to start. Defender Dean Lisles will miss the rest of the season following a broken ankle. Dean was injured in a car crash on the way to training on Tuesday. Steve Gardner is on a month's loan at Frickley following a lengthy injury. Danny Clarke will hopefully have recovered from a leg injury which led to him being substituted against Kendal. Heath is in discussion with a wide player from a Conference North club  and hopes to sign him in time for Saturday.

Ferriby squad: Antoni Pecora, Steve Ridley, Gregg Anderson, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Rob Moy

Ferriby begin their defence of the Doodson Sport League Cup next Tuesday when travel to Sheffield FC. There will be no coach travel for this game.
