Vanarama Conference North
Tamworth v North Ferriby United
Saturday 8 November 2014 ; KO 3.00 pm
Ferriby travel to Tamworth on Saturday for a Vanarama Conference North fixture on Saturday.
This will be the first league meeting between the two clubs. The only previous meetings were in 1989 when Tamworth beat Ferriby 4-3 on aggregate in the FA Vase semi-final. Ferriby won 2-1 at Tamworth but lost the second leg 3-1.
To mark this, Tamworth are allowing under-15s free admission.
Tamworth are currently 19th in the division with 14 points. They have won two and drawn six of their games. Goals have been in short supply at both ends and most of their games have been close affairs.
The Villagers are currently 10th but are only three points of fifth place and a play-off position.
Confidence will be good in the Ferriby camp following last Saturday’s amazing come-back against Oxford City. The game looked lost at half-time when The Villagers were 3-1 down. However, an amazing second-half saw Ferriby score three times without reply to win the game.
Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented, “The players were outstanding against Oxford. today. They responded magnificently in the second-half. I told them at half-time that the next goal would be crucial and that we could take something from the game if we could score it.
”Tamworth will provide a tough challenge on Saturday but we are finding our scoring boots in the League so we will hopefully get something from the game.”
Danny Emerton is still injured and sees a specialist for another scan this coming Monday. Tom Corner has gone on a month’s loan to Buxton in order to get some match fitness.
