Saturday 28th January 3.00pm
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Stocksbridge Park Steels v North Ferriby United
Ferriby travel to struggling Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday. Stocksbridge are in a relegation spot but after last Saturday's goalless draw against bottom club Burscough, The Villagers will be taking nothing for granted.
The Villagers have failed to score in their last four league games but have also kept three clean sheets in them. The lack of goals gives some cause for concern but the team is creating chances. A missed penalty cost them all three points against FC United. Last Saturday's match against Burscough was ruined by the wind which meant Manager Billy Heath had to alter his game plan to some extent.
The Villagers are ten points clear of the relegation zone and should be good enough to finish in the top half of the table. Given the club's well publicised financial problems at the start of the season, the aim for the season was to consolidate their place in the Evostik Premier Division. This would then provide a base for another promotion challenge next season.
Defensively the team is now much more resilient and organised. Heath will be hoping that the goal-scoring touch will soon return and turn draws into wins.
Stocksbridge are offering free admission to the match to everybody. The club is attempting to attract people to the quality and value of non-league football.
Defender Nathan Peat is suspended. Ben Morley remains a long-term injury absentee and Sam Denton may not have recovered from his recently sustained leg injury. Otherwise, Heath should have a full squad to choose from.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Adam Nicklin, Dominic Riordan, Anthony Lloyd, Paul Foot, James Bennett, James Williams, Kevin Larvin, Gregg Anderson, Alex Davidson, Chris Bolder, Paul Harsley, Wayne Brooksby, Gary Bradshaw, Timothy Taylor, Danny Clarke, Sam Belcher
