Sheffield FC v North Ferriby United
Doodson Spoprt League Challenge Cup 3rd Round
Tuesday 15 January 2013 KO 7.45 pm
Ferriby begin their defence of the Doodson Sport League Cup on Tuesday when they travel to Division One South side Sheffield FC.
Sheffield beat Brigg Town 5-3 after extra time to win last week's second round tie. The South Yorkshire were second best for most of the game but took control in the second-half of extra time to gain a rather flattering win.
Ferriby will be hoping to become only the third club to retain the League Cup. Promotion remains the priority for the club but manager Billy Heath will be expecting his team to develop a winning mentality when it comes to trophies.
With Ferriby's game at Whitby postponed last Saturday, second-placed Hednesford took the advantage to reduce the Villagers' lead at the top of the table to four points with a resounding 4-0 win at Worksop Town. Hednesford have two games in hand but an inferior goal difference.
Ferriby could face on-loan striker Jack Muldoon who score a hat-trick against Brigg. Muldoon's loan period finishes on Monday but it may be extended.
Against Sheffield, Heath may give starts to some of the squad players, including striker Gary Bradshaw who had had little pitch-time in recent weeks due to injury. Goalkeeper Adam Nicklin is suspended which will give Antony Pecora a chance to start. Danny Clarke will hopefully have recovered from a leg injury which led to him being substituted against Kendal. New signing Oliver Banks, a winger from Scarborough Athletic will be in the squad.
Possible Ferriby squad: Antoni Pecora, Steve Ridley, Gregg Anderson, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Rob Moy, Tim Taylor,Oliver Banks, Sam Belcher, Louis Bruce
