Monday 2nd January 3.00pm
North Ferriby United v Worksop Town
Ferriby entertain Worksop Town on Monday for an Evostik League Premier Division.
Worksop are in eighth position, three points ahead of Ferriby who also have three games in hand on their visitors. Like Ferriby, Worksop struggled earlier in the season but both sides have steadily climbed the table.
Ferriby will go into the match with plenty of confidence after three successive league victories. Manager Billy Heath will instil into his players that this confidence does not become complacency. Although Whitby and Burscough are becoming stranded at the bottom of the table, this is still a division in which all teams are capable of beating everybody else.
Ferriby Manager Billy Heath was delighted with Ferriby's win against Whitby on Boxing Day. "I'm really pleased with the result. It was a tremendous team performance in difficult conditions. We kept our shape throughout the game and adapted well to the conditions."
The game was played with gale force winds blowing down the pitch throughout the match. The Villagers gave a superb all-round team performance to gain a deserved victory. They adapted extremely well to the conditions, defending tenaciously against the wind in the first half. They dominated the second half and scored twice through Wayne Brooksby and Russell Fry. Fry's goal was scored direct from a corner.
Debutants Gregg Anderson and Dominic Riordan slotted in to the team well
Paul Harsley and Chris Bolder will hopefully be back in contention for Monday having missed last week's match. Danny Clarke and Wayne Brooksby both picked-up injuries at Whitby but it is hoped that they will be fit. Both Alex Davidson and Nathan Peat are suspended.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Rob Moy, Dominic Riordan, Anthony Lloyd, Gregg Anderson, James Bennett, James Williams, Kevin Larvin, Paul Foot, Chris Bolder, Paul Harsley, Wayne Brooksby, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Timothy Taylor, Danny Clarke, Sam Belcher
