Doodson Sports Evostik NPL League Challenge Cup 3rd Round
North Ferriby United v Whitby Town
Ferriby continue with cup action when they entertain Whitby Town in the Doodson Sports League Challenge Cup on Tuesday.
Manager Billy Heath will be looking for his side to extend their five match winning run against a Whitby side that is struggling in the Premier division relegation zone.
Clubs often use the League Cup to play under-strength sides and give first team opportunities to their reserve and fringe players. Heath views matters differently, "I'm not one for making wholesale changes to my teams in matches like this. Tuesday's squad will probably be the same or similar to Saturday's team that beat Salford. The starting-line-up may be a little changed but there will not be wholesale squad changes."
Heath is keen to keep Ferriby's winning run going. Whatever the significance of a competition, it is always important to win matches.
The Ferriby players have now got their confidence back and are playing some very positive attacking football. Saturday's clean sheet will have pleased Heath and his Assistant Manager Bobby Carroll as it was the team's first for nine matches.
With 18 goals in the last five matches Ferriby are a potent attacking force. Whilst they will not change the team's attacking style, they will be looking to their players to defend more as team once possession is lost.
With the exception of the injured Kevin Larvin, who may be back in contention at weekend, Heath should have a full squad to select from. It is possible that Chris Bolder and Ben Morley mat start the match as they attempt to regain match fitness after long lay-offs.
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Adam Nicklin, James Williams, Ben Morley, Nathan Peat, Paul Foot, Greg Wright, Sam Denton, Peter Davidson, Paul Harsley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Alex Davidson, Danny Clarke, Luke Thompson, Wayne Brooksby
