FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

NFU v Stockport County (SN)

 Saturday 5 April 2014
North Ferriby United  v Stockport County

Skrill North

Ferriby entertain mid-table Stockport County on Saturday. The Villagers will be looking for a win to maintain their lead at the top of the Skrill North.
The league title is now back in Ferriby’s control following midweek results. Second-placed Telford’s  6-1 defeat at Guiseley ensured The Villagers remain top. However, Ferriby face a testing final six games of the regular season. They have to play four of their promotion rivals and have a visit to relegation threatened Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday.

The title race looks as if it will be between Ferriby, Telford and Altrincham.  The latter two clubs meet at Altrincham on Saturday and Ferriby visit Altrincham the following Saturday.  These two fixtures could have a crucial role to play in the destination of the title. Behind the top three are another six clubs who could claim a play-off-spot. As far as Ferriby are concerned, they need to match or better all their rival’s results to probably claim the title.

Ferriby Manager Billy Heath will be looking ruefully at his injury list. Fortunately, there were no additional injuries picked-up in last Saturday’s win over Stalybridge.  The title/promotion run-in will be a big challenge for Ferriby’s small squad.

Heath commented, “Midweek results went in our favour and we are now back in control of the title race. It’s a similar situation to last season and we know our rivals will push us to the very end. The injury situation is still a concern. We only have a small squad and Saturday will probably provide a chance for some of the players who often miss out .”

Heath will definitely be without Matt Wilson, Gregg Anderson and Jon D’Laryea. The last two have been given medical clearance to start their rehabilitation and could be ready for selection for the last two or three games. Dean Lisles and Danny Emerton are doubtful due to injury and are unlikely to be in the final 16. Danny Clarke returns following a one game suspension but Anthony Wilson begins a two game suspension.
