North Ferriby United v Rushall Olympic

Ferriby manager Billy Heath and his team are gearing-up for the Club's first cup final at this level when they play Rushall Olympic at Eastwood Town in Saturday's Doodson Sport League Cup Final.

The match is the climax to a season which will be seen as a satisfactory one by all at the club.

When Heath and his assistant Mark Carroll took over the reins last October the side was facing a fight against relegation. Heath made a few crucial signings but the squad is still largely the one that Heath and Carroll inherited.

Results began ti improve. Confidence returned to the players and they began a steady climb up the table. A ninth place finish was the outcome. As Heath said, "Given the situation at the club when Mark and I arrived, we are pleased to have a top ten finish. Reaching the league cup final is a boost for the players and the club."

Rushall will provide a stern test for Ferriby. Their direct style will be a contrast to Ferriby's more flowing style. Rushall's main threat may come from striker Ahmed Obeng.

The recent draw at Rushall was played on a poor surface. This made it difficult to really judge how the two sides may perform on Saturday. As always, a cup tie is a "one-off". Heath will be hoping that his side will play with their normal flair and confidence. On their day, The Villagers are as good, if not better, than virtually every team in the league.

The match will be popular goalkeeper Steve Wilson's final fixture before his retirement. He has decided that after 20 year long career it is time to stop playing. Wilson is likely to start on the bench but a cup final is along and fitting end to an illustrious career.

It is unlikely that Kevin Larvin will have recover from his groin injury. Both Ben Hunter and Lee Morris are cup-tied as they played for Matlock Town in the earlier rounds.

Probable Ferriby Squad: Adam Nicklin, Steve Wilson, Steve Gardner, Dean Lisles, Nathan Peat, Paul Foot,  Sam Denton, Sam Belcher,  Gregg Anderson, Chris Bolder, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Timothy Taylor, Danny Clarke, Wayne Brooksby, James Williams
