Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
North Ferriby United v Northwich Victoria
Ferriby entertain promotion-chasing and FA Trophy quarter-finalists Northwich Victoria at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Saturday. Northwich have been kicked out of their ground and are now playing "home" matches wherever they can. They also have a new management team in place.
It will be a tough match for Billy Heath's side as they look to gain points to consolidate their mid-table position.
Heath's first match in charge of Ferriby was at Northwich and he will be hoping to reverse that somewhat undeserved defeat. The Villagers are now a different proposition to the team that played that day and are proving that when they are on form they can match virtually every team in the Division.
Ferriby will be buoyed-up after Wednesday's Doodson Sport League Cup victory over Bradford Park Avenue. The 2-1 win puts the The Villagers in the semi-final of the competition for the first time. The match was the first for 18 days and the second-half proved to be a rather torrid affair as Bradford lost their discipline. The visitors had two players sent-off and another three cautioned.
Russell Fry was Ferriby's goal-scoring hero as he fired home two penalties. The most impressive part of the team's performance was their discipline. The players remained calm and refused to be pulled into confrontation or retaliation in response to Bradford.
Manager Billy Heath said, "I'm delighted with the result and thought we deserved it overall. Wewere a bit tentative in the first fifteen minutes but played ourselves into the game. It was a good all-round team performance."
Hopefully, Ferriby will have a full-strength squad for Sayurday.
