Saturday 21 April 3.00pm
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
North Ferriby United v Nantwich Town
Ferriby play their final league match of the season when they entertain Nantwich Town. Although both sides are comfortably placed in mid-table there is a bit of an "edge" to the game. A win for The Villagers will see them swap places in the final table with Nantwich.
This is the last fixture for Billy Heath's side as he continues his build-up to the Doodson Sport League Cup Final against Rushall Olympic a week on Saturday
Heath was delighted with his side's performance at promotion-chasing Hednesford on Tuesday. The Villagers had the better of a goalless draw. Heath commented, "It was a superb performance. We probably deserved to win tonight. We prevented them creating any chances in the second-half and the players were focussed all through the game. It's been a challenging 10 days with three long away trips but the players have responded well."
This was another fine all-round team performance at the end of a testing 10 day period. Ferriby almost won the game but Wayne Brooksby's 25 yard drive came back off the angle of the post and crossbar.
It has been a strange season for the club. Results, both good and bad, seem to have come in spells. Given the pre- and early season problems and the appointment of a new management team, a mid-table finish will probably be seen as acceptable. Certainly, the club is well-placed to mount a stronger challenge next season.
The appearance in the Doodson Sport Final is a real bonus to Heath and his team. It is the Club's first cup final at this level and it is sure to be a special day.
Steve Gardner picked-up a slight injury last Saturday and missed the Hednesford match but it is hoped he will be fit this Saturday. Kevin Larvin is also injured and may be out until the Doodson Sport League Cup Final. Hopefully, Dean Lisles, on loan from Guiseley will also be available.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Adam Nicklin, Steve Wilson, Steve Gardner, Dean Lisles, Nathan Peat, Paul Foot, James Williams, Sam Denton, Gregg Anderson, Chris Bolder, Russell Fry, Lee Morris, Gary Bradshaw, Ben Hunter, Timothy Taylor, Danny Clarke, Wayne Brooksby, Sam Belcher
The Club is running at least one supporters' coach to the League Cup Final at Eastwood Town on Saturday 28 April. Bookings can be made via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by contacting any committee member.
