FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

NFU v Mickleover Sports (FAT 3Q)

FA Trophy 3rd Round Qualifying
North Ferriby United v Mickleover Sports
Saturday 29th November 2014 ; KO 3.00 pm

Ferriby are back on the cup trail when they entertain Evostik Premier League Division One South side Mickleover Sports on Saturday. The Villagers will be looking for a good run in this competition having reached the quarter-finals last season.

The Villagers go in to the game on the back of a 7-game unbeaten league run which has seen them gain three wins and four draws.

Last Saturday’s win at Lowestoft was a tremendous performance given that a number of players were carrying injuries. Ferriby were well-worth the victory and the scoreline did not do them justice.

The Villagers are currently 9th in the Vanarama Conference North and will obviously start favourites against their lower-placed opponents.  However, Ferriby will be far from complacent given their setback at Warrington in the FA Cup a few weeks ago.

Most of Ferriby’s squad experienced last season’s run to the quarter-finals and they know that they have the ability to succeed in a competition that is normally dominated by Conference National sides.

Mickleover are 3rd in the Evostik Premier League Division One South. They will be full of confidence having lost only twice in the league. The Derbyshire side have scored 35 goals and conceded only 11 in league games with Karl Ashton top-scoring with 11 goals.

Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented, “We will obviously start as favourites but the Warrington result will remind us that there are no easy games. Mickleover will be looking to cause an upset and they are having a good season.

We played well at Lowestoft last Saturday and need to hit that level of performance again.”

Danny Emerton is still injured and is waiting for a date for surgery to his ankle. Danny Hone sits out the final game of a three match suspension. Louis Bruce is also injured but apart from these three players, Heath should have a full squad to choose from.

NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Josh Wilde, Grant Black, Nathan Peat, Matt Wilson, Mark Gray,Gregg Anderson, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry,  Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Ryan Kendall, Jason St Juste, Jamie Yates

Admission is £10 and £5 and everybody must pay as passes are not valid for cup-ties.

If Saturday’s game is drawn the replay will be at Mickleover Sports on Tuesday.
