North Ferriby United v Matlock Town
Evostik Northern premier League Premier Division
Saturday 6th October 2012 KO 3.00 pm
North Ferriby United return to league action on Saturday when struggling Whitby Town visit the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
Matlock have had a mixed start to the season with eight points from their nine games. However, they will still prove a stiff test for Billy Heath's side.
Last season, Ferriby dropped too many points against lower-placed clubs and this finally cost them a play-off spot. The recent draw against struggling Whitby Town showed that there are no "easy" fixtures in the Evostik Northern Premier League.
Ferriby should be good enough to beat Matlock but they will probably need to be patient against a side that will come and make life difficult for them.
Heath will be reminding his players that patience does pay following last weekend's three goal burst in the final four minutes in the 4-1 FA Trophy win at Frickley Athletic.
Ferriby have one of the best sets of strikers in the League with Gary Bradshaw, Jack Muldoon and Ryan Kendall all scoring recently. If the midfield players keep performing well chances will continue to be created. The defence is becoming more solid as the players become more used to each other and are now playing better as a unit. Keeper Adam Nicklin has been under-employed in a number of matches but his quality is obvious by the way he is able to make crucial saves when called-on.
.Skipper Paul Foot is suspended so Mark Gray is likely to start in defence. Ryan Kendall should be available again after missing last weekend's game with a stomach bug.
Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Dean Lisles, Nathan Peat, Gregg Anderson, Gary Bradshaw, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Mark Gray, Jack Muldoon, Liam King, Ryan Kendall, Chris Bolder, Ben Hunter, Ryan Williams, Steve Gardner, Steve Ridley, Danny Clarke.
Ferriby have been drawn away to Premier Division rivals Buxton in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy on Saturday 27 October.
