Vanarama Conference North
North Ferriby United v Lowestoft Town
Saturday 7 March 2015 ; KO 3.00 pm
FA Trophy Finalists Ferriby continue with Vanarama Conference North action on Saturday when Lowestoft Town visit the Eon Visiual Media Stadium.
It will be Lowestoft’s first ever visit to Ferriby. The reverse league fixture at Lowestoft earlier in the season ended in a 2-0 for Ferriby.
The Villagers are currently in 12th position in the Vanarama Conference North. Ferriby are still hopeful of gaining a play-off place but they need a run of victories to do so.
Ferriby have won six and drawn three of their last nine games. The Villagers are in a good run of form with only one defeat in their last 14 games.
On Wednesday, Ferriby gained a well-deserved draw at another promotion-chasing club, Oxford City. This was a good point for Ferriby against one of the league’s most free-scoring sides.
The Villagers defence was on top throughout the game and restricted Oxford to only a handful of chances, not many of which seriously threatened debutant goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge.
The midfield pressed Oxford and made it difficult for them to mount attacks whilst providing plenty of ammunition forTom Denton, Ryan Kendall and Kendall’s substitute Nathan Jarman.
Manager Billy Heath commented, “It was an excellent performance against a side that is very strong going forward and plays good football. We pressed them in midfield and defended well when they did break through. My players were fully committed. They showed a fantastic attitude and worked hard. The players are competing for places and the performance us what we expected. ”
After last weekend’s FA Trophy success, Ferriby will be hoping for a larger than usual league crowd.
Adam Nicklin is injured and his place will be taken by loan-signing Jonathan Hedge, and England C international who made his debut at Oxford. Danny Emerton returns after injury and may play at some time during the game.
NFU from: Jonathan Hedge, Tom Nicholson, Sam Topliss, Louis Bruce, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Mark Gray, Gregg Anderson, Danny Hone, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry, Tom Denton, Ryan Kendall, Jason St Juste, Danny Clarke, Curtis Bateson, Matt Wilson, Danny Emerton
