FA Trophy First Qualifying Round
North Ferriby United v Lincoln United
Ferriby begin their FA Trophy campaign on Saturday. Their opponents at the Rapid Solicitors stadium are Evostik Northern Premier League Division One South side Lincoln United.
Whilst Ferriby may go in to the match as favourites, Manager Billy Heath and his assistant Mark Carroll will be warning their players about complacency. Achieving a good league position will remain the Club's priority but they will still be hoping for a good performances in the Trophy.
A good Trophy run generates confidence, money and publicity. Whilst it is Conference Clubs who generally dominate the later stages of the competition, clubs from Ferriby's level have reached the Final in the last ten years.
Lincoln are currently in the play-off spots and have lost only two league matches. They also have a much better away than home record with four wins on their travels.
After a dismal league run, Ferriby seemed to have turned the corner with back-to-back wins in which they have scored nine times. Heath and Carroll will be looking to their team to continue this against Lincoln.
Chris Bolder made a welcome return to the side against Mickleover last Saturday and played the whole of the second-half. Ben Morley is still unavailable through a long-term injury. Kevin Larvin may be doubtful for Saturday following the injury he picked-up against Ashton. Goalkeeper Adam Nicklin has re-signed for the club following a short spell at Hall Road Rangers and will probably be in the squad.
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, James Williams, Nathan Peat, Kevin Larvin, Paul Foot, Greg Wright, Sam Denton, Peter Davidson, Gary Bradshaw, Paul Harsley, Russell Fry, John Leonard, Mathew Stirland, Alex Davidson, Danny Clarke, Tom Clarke, Adam Nicklin, Luke Thompson
