FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

NFU v Leeds United (PSF)

North Ferriby United v Leeds United
Wednesday 12 July 2017
Eon Visual Media Stadium
 Kick-off 7.45pm

Ferriby will welcome Championship side Leeds United to The Eon Visual Media Stadium for a prestigious pre-season friendly. Leeds are sending their first-team for the game. They will, obviously present a very strong challenge to Ferriby.

Villagers’ manager Steve Housham will be concentrating more on the performance of his players rather than the result. Housham is still looking to increase his squad,

“I know fans get frustrated at the time that it takes it to sign players but players want time to consider their options about who they sign for. What I will say is that we are in a better position with signed-on players now than we were at this time last season.”

Ferriby have three games lined-up this week. They are at Brigg on Tuesday, Barton Town on Thursday as well as Leeds at home Wednesday. The Brigg and Barton games will see mainly Ferriby field sides made-up of triallists and players from last season’s successful academy side. Against Leeds, Housham will field mainly players who have signed on for the forthcoming National League North season.

Most of those players started the first-half against Scunthorpe on Saturday. Despite the fact that they had had only five training sessions plus 45 minutes football at Hall Road Rangers last week, they looked quite impressive against the League One side. The Villagers matched The Iron in most departments in the first 45 minutes. Joel Ambalu and Alberto combined well up front and caused problems for Scunthorpe’s defenders. The defence was generally solid and the midfield played some skilful passing football. The key difference between the sides was finishing.

It will be interesting to see if those same players can produce a similar performance against Leeds. Housham again,
“It’s a big test for the players but it is also a big opportunity for them. They will be determined to show just how good they are as footballers.”

Possible Ferriby squad: Ross Durrant, Jordan Cooke, Jake Skelton, Bobby Johnson, Mark Gray, Jake Picton, Simon Russell, Alberto, Joel Ambula, Joe Pugh, Danny Emerton, Russell Fry, Curtis Bateson, Steve Brogan, Leigh Hutchinson, Kojo Kyei, George Bell

The game is ALL-TICKET. There will be no cash admission at the gate.

Car parking will be available at North Ferriby Primary School. The cost is £2 with all proceeds going to the school. Please follow the directions from the stewards.
