FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

NFU v Ilkeston FC (PSF)

Pre-season Friendly
North Ferriby United v Ilkeston FC

Saturday 26 July; 3pm

Ferriby continue their pre-season programme when Evostik Premier side Ilkeston FC visit The Eon Visual Media Stadium on Saturday.

Admission has been fixed at £4 with £2 for concessions and under-16s free.

Of Ferriby’s seven pre-season games, the fixture against Ilkeston will be the one against a team closest in playing level to The Villagers.

It will be an interesting challenge, Ferriby manager Billy Heath will be expecting the same commitment and performance that he has seen from his players in the four previous games. With 15 goals scored and only one concede Ferriby are looking to be in good form.

Competition for places is hot and nobody is guaranteed a place in the starting line-up. The remaining three pre-season games will see the players giving their all to be in the opening league game at Stockport on 9th August.

Spirits are high in The Villagers camp after Monday’s superb performance which earned them a draw with premier League neighbours Hull City. The Tigers fielded an almost full-strength side and were pushed all the way by Ferriby.

There is no doubt that Ferriby deserved the draw with Mark Gray’s late goal levelling the scores after Shane Long had put City ahead from the penalty spot.

The penalty is the only goal that Ferriby have conceded in their four games so far.

After the City game, Heath commented, “I’m absolutely ecstatic. W kept our shape and I’ve told the players that they were magnificent. We kept the game tight and squeezed City. Up front, Tom Denton caused City’s centre-halves a lot of problems. We changed our formation in the second-half and we will be more flexible this season.”

Heath has rung the changes at half-time and during the second-half in all four games played so far. Ferriby certainly look to have strength in depth. Crucially, as Heath comments above, he has the players who will allow him to employ flexible tactics and formations in the regular season.

Heath is likely to be without Adam Bolder and Nathan Peat but should have the full squad available for the final two games.

NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Dean Lisles, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Gregg Anderson, Matt Wilson, Danny Hone, Mark Gray, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Danny Emerton, Russell Fry,  Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Tom Corner, Jamie Yates, Louis Bruce, Tim Taylor, Dan Clayton, Matty Kingston
