North Ferriby United v Hednesford Town The Skrill North
Saturday 7 September Kick-off 3.00pm Ferriby face Skrill North leaders Hednesford Town at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Saturday.
Hednesford chased Ferriby all the way to the last day of last season’s Evostik Premier Division title race. The west-midlands finally had to settle for second place and promotion as play-off winners. They may feel they have a point to make over not taking the title.
Games between the two clubs are usually tight and tense affairs. Hopefully this Saturday’s game will be remembered for the quality of the football rather than the disputed refereeing decisions that affected last season’s fixture.
Hednesford are the Division’s top scorers and lead on goal difference. They have won four and drawn one of their opening five games. It will certainly be a tough match for Ferriby but that is something they will get used to as the season progresses. They are not likely to find any easy games and will need to be close to the top of their game each time they take the field.
Manager Billy Heath commented, “I was pleased with a point at Brackley, but disappointed at the same time. We defended well with ten men and for them to equalise so late in the game was hard on the team. The attitude and performance of the players was good throughout. We were strong in defence and created opportunities up front. I’m looking for a similar performance and attitude against Hednesford. “
Heath should have a full squad to choose from. Matt Wilson played a full 90 minutes in a practice match at Barton Town on Thursday.
