Vanarama Conference North
North Ferriby United v Guiseley
Saturday 18th October 2014 ; KO 3.00 pm
Ferriby entertain Guiseley in the Vanarama Conference North on Saturday. Ferriby will be looking to take something from the game against a side that beat The Villagers four times last season.
Ferriby lost both league games and both legs of the promotion play-off semi-final. Both clubs, not surprisingly have retained many of last year’s squad and a close game is in prospect. Despite losing last season’s games, Ferriby could well have won them as there was little to choose between the two sides.
Guiseley are currently two places above the seventh placed Villagers in the Vanarama Conference North. Bothe teams have good defensive records having conceded only 12 league goals each. Guiseley have scored more than Ferriby but The Villagers have re-found their scoring touch in recent games.
Former Ferriby player Wayne Brooksby will be a threat to The Villagers with his approach play and his ability to score.
Ferriby manager Billy Heath comments, “It will obviously be a tough game against Guiseley. Our meetings last season were close affairs and we were unlucky not to have got something from any of the four games we played. Confidence in the team is high at the moment and the players have never lost belief in their ability.
“We had a blip a few games ago in terms of results but we were still playing good football. Recent results have been a fair reward for the player’ attitude and commitment.”
Danny Emerton is still injured but recent signing Jason St Juste will return to the squad after being ineligible for last Saturday’s FA Cup win over Grantham. Jamie Yates will also return to the squad following the end of his loan period at Matlock Town.
NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Matt Wilson, Gregg Anderson, Danny Hone, Mark Gray, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry, Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Tom Corner, Dan Clayton, Louis Bruce, Jason St Juste, Jamie Yates
Ferriby will play Warrington Town in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup at Warrington next Saturday
