North Ferriby United v Grimsby Town
Wednesday 1 August. KO 7.30 pm
Ferriby continue their pre-season preparations when they entertain Conference side Grimsby Town on Wednesday.
This will be Manager billy Heath's last opportunity to assess his players' form and fitness before Saturday's Peter Swales Memorial Shield match at Chester. Heath will have to select a squad of 16 for this match.
Grimsby will provide a stern test for Ferriby and this will allow heath to gauge the progress his squad is making.
Heath was pleased with the side's comfortable win at Brigg Town on Saturday. Good approach play was backed-up by some clinical finishing.
For Heath the pre-season matches are important, "A lot of people say that pre-season games are meaningless but I don'd accept that. They give us the opportunity to work on routines , fitness and get into a match rhythm for the season proper. Good performances in pre-season games can be carried in to the regular season. Ferriby have been notoriously slow starters over the years and we have to alter this if we want to be serious challengers in a competitive league."
Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, James Williams, Steve Gardner, Nathan Peat, Paul Foot, Gregg Anderson, Sam Belcher, Chris Bolder, Gary Bradshaw, Russell Fry, Lee Morris, Danny Clarke, Chris White, Steve Ridley, Ben Hunter, Mark Gray, Chris Hall, Jack Muldoon, Neil Stevens, Liam King, Ryan Kendall, Timothy Taylor
Admission prices have been reduced to £5 (£3 concessions) and £1 for under-16s.
