FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

NFU v FC Halifax Town (PSF)

North Ferriby United v FC Halifax Town
Monday 24 July 2017
Eon Visual Media Stadium
 Kick-off 7.45pm

Ferriby will welcome FC Halifax Town to The Eon Visual Media Stadium on Monday. The clubs swapped places at the end of last season.

It will be almost like a home-coming for Town manager Billy Heath and a number of his players. Following Ferriby’s promotion to the National League at the end of the 2015-16 season, Heath, his assistant manager, a large number of players and backroom staff left to join Halifax.

It was a big blow to The Villagers but it was a move for Halifax as they gained promotion from National League North. The exodus and the time it took to appoint Steve Housham and Darryn Stamp made it difficult to develop a squad for their debut in the National League and, despite many creditable performances, it took a while for the team to settle.

No doubt there will be a warm welcome for the former management team and players who achieved so much at Ferriby. That said, that will not extend to the pitch once the game starts as both sides will be eager to win.

With the new league season less than a fortnight away, both managers will be thinking hard about their starting line-ups for August 5. There may well be far fewer substitutions than we have seen in the pre-season games so far.

Manager Steve Housham commented,

“The squad is taking shape and we are going to be in a much better place we were at the start of last season. Obviously, we are still looking to strengthen the squad.

“Halifax will be an interesting game, not least because of the success that so many of their side had at Ferriby. It is a reminder to our current players of what can be achieved by this club.”

Possible Ferriby squad: Ross Durrant, Lewis Exall, Jordan Cooke, Jake Skelton, Bobby Johnson, Mark Gray, Jake Picton, Simon Russell, Alberto, Joel Ambula, Joe Pugh, Danny Emerton, Russell Fry, Curtis Bateson, Steve Brogan, Leigh Hutchinson, Kojo Kyei,
