North Ferriby United v Eastwood Town
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Saturday 30 March 2013 KO 3.00 pm
League leaders Ferriby entertain relegation favourites Eastwood Town on Saturday. Ferriby will be looking for three points to consolidate their lead at the top.
Ferriby have had two 5-0 wins over Eastwood this season in matches at Eastwood. Manager Billy Heath will be warning his team about complacency. He will be looking for a thoroughly professional performance to boost Ferriby's title credentials.
Heath commented, "We are in the driving seat and need to focus on our own performances and not on what our rivals are doing."
Second-placed Hednesford reduced Ferriby's lead to six points, with two games in hand, when they won at Kendal in midweek. AFC Fylde, Rushall Olympic and FC United of Manchester will not have given up hopes of the title so a tense finish is expected over the next six weeks. With at least another five teams still in contention for the four play-off spots teams will drop points as matches between promotion rivals happen each week.
The title could well depend not only on results but also on which team shows the greatest character and, maybe, have a little bit of luck with injuries, suspensions and decisions.
Ferriby have not played since beating Bridlington Town in the semi-final of the East Riding Senior Cup. The final is scheduled to be played at the KC Stadium on 7th May. Ferriby's opponents will be either Reckitts or Hull City whose semi-final has had to be re-arranged.
The Eastwood game is the first of four matches in eight days. It could well be the defining week of the season. Ferriby travel to Blyth Spartans on Easter Monday, entertain Cammell laird in the semi-final of the Doodson Sport Cup on Wednesday and travel to Ilkeston FC the following Saturday. The league season has now been extended to Saturday 4th May due to the almost total wipe-out of games last weekend.
Heath should have a full squad to chooses from with the 10-day break giving players a chance to overcome niggling injuries. Oliver banks has signed for FC United of Manchester
Possible Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin; Gregg Anderson, Steve Gardner, Paul Robson, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Steve Ridley, Rob Youhill, Antoni Pecora
