North Ferriby United v Buxton
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Saturday 18 August. KO 3.00 pm
North Ferriby United begin their Evostik Northern Premier League season with a home fixture against Buxton.
Manager Billy Heath will be looking for his players to get off to a winning start. Heath is expecting his side to be challenging for promotion in what is sure to be another highly competitive season.
For Heath, the pre-season fixtures have been important in trying to create the right attitude amongst his players.
Heath says, "We are all looking forward to the start of the season. We have put-in some good performances in the pre-season games and it is important that we start well.
"Buxton will be a tough side to beat. Mark Reed, their striker, will be a threat. They flirted with relegation last season but put in a strong end-of-season run to stay-up. No team is going to come to Ferriby to lie down and be rolled over. "
Heath has a large squad with competition for every position in the team. The players know they need to be playing at their best to be in the starting squad. Reputations will count for little in Heath's selections. Only Chris Bolder, suspended for the first four matches, and Kevin Larvin who is still recovering from injury are unavailable for Saturday. Dean Lisles has re-signed for the club after his move to Stalybridge Celtic collapsed.
Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, James Williams, Dean Lisles, Steve Gardner, Nathan Peat, Paul Foot, Gregg Anderson, Gary Bradshaw, Russell Fry, Lee Morris, Danny Clarke, Chris White, Steve Ridley, Ben Hunter, Mark Gray, Chris Hall, Jack Muldoon, Neil Stevens, Liam King, Ryan Kendall, Timothy Taylor
