FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

NFU v Burscough (Evo Prem)

Saturday 21st January 3.00pm

 North Ferriby United v Burscough

Ferriby entertain botttom-of the table Burscough at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Saturday.

Burscough have become stranded at the foot of the table and look doomed to relegation. However,  Ferriby manager Billy Heath will certainly be warning his team against complacency.

The Villagers have failed to score in their last three league games but have created enough chances in each game to have won them.

Saturday's match is the first of two against clubs in the relegation places. Heath will be expecting his team to gain points to see Ferriby continue their climb up the table.  If The Villagers can put a good run together there is still an outside chance of taking a play-off spot.

Heath was pleased with the general performance against FC United last Saturday. He commented, "I thought the first-half was fairly even but we had the better of the second-half and could have won the game."

The arrival of Heath and his Assistant Manager Bobby Carroll has seen the side add a bit of steel to their defensive play. However, The Villagers continue to play attractive attacking football but have sharpened-up their defensive awareness and are now conceding fewer goals.

The promotion race could be altered by events this week at second-placed Northwich Victoria who have been told to vacate their ground by Friday by the ground's new owners. If The Vics become homeless at weekend they will need the Evostik Northern Premier League to grant them permission to play home fixtures elsewhere for the rest of the season. Given that the club was charged with failing to fulfil a fixture at the start of the season due to an issue with the lease at the beginning of the season, there is no guarantee that the League would allow this.

Defender Nathan Peat is suspended and  Ben Morley and Adam Nicklin are still a little way of returning from injury. Sam Denton and Paul Foot will hopefully be fully fit. Midfielder Peter Davidson has signed for Premier Division rivals Buxton.

Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Rob Moy, Dominic Riordan, Anthony Lloyd, Sam Denton, Paul Foot,  James Bennett, James Williams, Kevin Larvin,  Gregg Anderson, Alex Davidson, Chris Bolder, Paul Harsley, Wayne Brooksby, Gary Bradshaw, Timothy Taylor, Danny Clarke, Sam Belcher
