East Riding Senior Cup

North Ferriby United Chalk Lane
Scorers: NFU: Danny Clarke 56; Liam King 89
Ferriby eased in to the semi-final of the East riding senior Cup with a comfortable victory over Chalk Lane. The scoreline does not reflect Ferriby’s dominance in the game The Villagers had 21 shots on goal whilst Chalk lane did not manage a single attempt.
Chalk Lane gave a determined performance and harried and hassled Ferriby all over the pitch but played most of the game in their own half.
Louis Bruce was unlucky when his early drive from 25 yards cannoned off the bar with Chalk lane keeper Chris Sinclair well-beaten.
Ferriby continued to press but solid defensive work meant they had few clear opportunities. Sinclair did well to parry Ryan Kendall’s 20-yard shot. Shortly after, he saved again from Kendall. On the stroke of half-time Jamie Yates fired in a shot that the keeper held comfortably.
Ferriby keeper Antoni Pecora was called in to action only once, holding a low cross from Adam Wilberforce with no other Chalk Lane player in sight.
Ferriby were totally dominant in the second-half but Chalk lane continued to defend doggedly. Ferriby opened the half brightly with Liam King seeing a shot deflected for a corner and Danny Clarke shooting narrowly wide.
The opening goal came after 56 minutes. A King shot was blocked and the rebound finally reached Clarke who slotted the ball home from close-range.
Ferriby went close on a number of occasions through Clarke, King, Ryan Kendall and Mark Gray.
The clinching goal came in the 89th minute when Liam King hit home an unstoppable 30-yard shot.
Credit to Chalk Lane for their doggedness and determination but this was a game in which Ferriby were the only likely winners.
