Vanarama Conference North

North Ferriby United 0 Tamworth 0
This was an entertaining game between two sides who are in good runs of form. That said, there were few clear-cut opportunities on goal and the draw was probably a fair result.
The first-half provided few clear opportunities for either side and neither keeper had a save of any note to make.
The only on-target efforts of the half came from Ferriby. Tamworth keeper James Belshaw held a Danny Clarke shot after four minutes then a Danny Hone header some 30 minutes later.
In between those efforts, Liam King headed over and saw a shot deflected for a corner.
Tamworth’s efforts were restricted to shots from Dave Hibbert and Reece Styche which were blocked on the edge of the area.
The second-half saw a few more chances but with defences on top, just as in the first-half, a goal rarely looked likely.
Tamworth’s biggest goal threat came from Brendon Daniels who saw one shot blocked on the edge of the area. He then provided an opportunity for Hibbert to fire over before forcing home keeper Adam Nicklin to save with his legs. It really was not Williams’ day as he was sent-off after 77 minutes for a comment to the referee.
For Ferriby, Ryan Kendall hit an angled shot wide then Danny Hone saw his header cleared off the line following a Russell Fry corner.
Ferriby pressed more after Williams’ dismissal with Hone and Nathan Jarman both heading over In-between, Curtis Bateson curled a shot over the bar.. Danny Clarke almost won the game for Ferriby in added time. His persistence won the ball on the edge of the area but his shot was turned round by Belshaw. From the corner, Bateson had an on-target shot blocked.
Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented, “It was a good performance against a side that is in a good run of form. Tamworth are well-organised and difficult to break down. We defended well and kept another clean sheet which is alwayd pleasing.
We picke-up no injuries which is good news with next week’s FA Trophy semi-final at bath coming up.”
