East Riding Senior Cup

North Ferriby United 0
Lee Geraghty 59, 84
HT: NFU 0 Reckitts 2
Ferriby’s starting line-up contained 10 players making their First Team debuts, a total that increased to 13 after substitutions. The players were from Ferriby’s Reserve side with the exception of Tim Taylor and Matt Kingston who were called back from Brigg Town where they are currently on loan.
Ferriby started brightly and were by far the better team for the first 25 minutes. Max Brentano had a shot blocked after four minutes. Two minutes later, Tim Taylor, the only player with any previous First Team experience, ran fully 40 yards to set up an opportunity for Busilana Kasilembo whose shot was turned round for a corner by Reckitts keeper Charlie Dixon. Taylor took the corner and saw Tom Negebe head over.
Ferriby continued to play some pleasing football but struggled to create any more clear opportunities.
it was 21 minutes before Reckitts had an attempt on goal with Grant Tait firing over from 18 yards. Reckitts started to pressure Ferriby and had a series of corners but did not seriously threaten Jordan Douglas in ferriby’s goal. David Kocsis and Fraser McNab played well all evening in the centre of The Villagers’ defence.
Reckitts came closest to a goal as the half progressed, They saw a shot cleared off the Ferriby line and Douglas made a good diving save from Mike Bartlett’s header.
The second-half was largely empty of goal threats but Reckitts made the most of their limited chances.
Ferriby, again, produced some good approach play but there was no end product. As with the first-half, they found Reckitts physical approach hard to deal with.
The opening goal came after 59 minutes. Lee Geraghty pounce to score from close range after Douglas failed to hold a low cross. Geraghty clinched the game after 88 minutes when he ran 40-yards to score on the break as Ferriby were looking for the equaliser at the opposite end of the pitch.
Ferriby pressed for a goal. Lewis Dennison saw a shot deflected wide, Max Brentano saw his shot saved by Dixon and Taylor was unlucky to see his curling late free-kick take two deflections before going out for a corner.
Whilst Ferriby will be disappointed to have a lost, they put-up a good performance and to lose by two goals was probably rather harsh.
