A young Ferriby team with afew triallists and a couple of first team players gained a creditable draw at NCEL Premier Division side Barton Town.
Ferriby started well with Curtis Bateson firing an angled shot at Barton’s keeper. This was really the only serious goal threat that Ferriby had in the first-half. There was some good paly in midfield but they created little in the final third of the field.
Barton looked the more dangerous but even they had limited goal threat. The Villagers’ defence was strong and determined.
Barton took the lead after 21 minutes. Keeper Liam Hewson saw the ball slip through his hands and legs and befor he could recover Dave Mortimer tapped the ball over the line.. It was hard luck on Hewson who generally had a good game. He made two good saves in the second-half as Barton looked for a second goal.
Barton had the better of the second-half but, once again, Ferriby’s defence held firm. The midfield was more in the game and Mitch Allington went close before Jake Martindale equalised with a low shot from 18 yards after87 minutes.
