Vanarama Conference North
Harrogate Town v North Ferriby United
Monday 6th April 2015 ; KO 3.00 pm
Ferriby will be keen to win in order to finish as high as possible in the table. Their play-off hopes were effectively finished by Saturday’s defeat at home to Chorley.
The Villagers remaining fixtures are such that Ferriby’s results will have a big impact on both the promotion and relegation battles.
Harrogate are comfortably placed in mid-table, safe from relegation and out of the play-off reckoning.
The reverse league fixture at the Eon Visual Media Stadium in August saw Ferriby gain a narrow 1-0 win. It will be an equally tough game on Monday.
Saturday’s game was a thoroughly entertaining affair and Ferriby really deserved to take something from the game. They were left to rue some missed chances at the beginning of the second-half when they were 2-1 up.
The Villagers were also left unhappy by some refereeing decisions. A clear hand-ball by a Chorley defender in the area in the first when The Villagers were 1-0 ahead was completely ignored by the officials. They were equally mystified when Aaaron Burns was allowed to score the winner after fouling mark Gray as he challenged with the defender for the ball.
Manager Billy Heath commented, “You expect to win when you score three goals at home. We didn’t defend well conceded four poor goals and that is not like us.
“We now need to pick ourselves up for Monday’s game at Harrogate. It’s important that we make a strong finish to the season”
Adam Nicklin and Danny Emerton are injured and will miss the rest of the season. Gregg Anderson is unavailable.
