Harrogate Town v North Ferriby United
The Skrill North
Saturday 24 August. Kick-off 3.00pm
Ferriby visit Harrogate Town for the third of four games in 10 days as The Villagers continue their impressive opening in The Skrill North. Ferriby sit at the top of the table with maximum points from their two games. It is the first time they have won both their opening games since 2005.
Ferriby will be looking to consolidate their position in what will be a challenging game. Harrogate have won one and drawn one of their two games so far.
Ferriby thoroughly deserved their comfortable win at Bradford. The first-half was a scrappy affair with both sides failing to retain possession for any length of time. The nature of the half was perhaps summed-up by the fact that Matt Wilson’s first goal for the club was initially credited to Gregg Anderson following a Jamie Yates’ corner.
The second-half was a different matter. Ferriby controlled the game . The highlight was the final goal when Anthony Wilson ran fully 70 yards shrugging-off defenders to slide the ball home.
Ferriby manager Billy Heath said, “We were not at our best in the first-half because we never really settled on the ball. However it was a really good performance in the second-half. We controlled the game and denied Bradford time and space on the ball. Harrogate will provide a tough test on Saturday. We just need to play to our ability and not become over-confident. We’ve made a good start and need to maintain that. ”
The Bradford game proved costly in terms of injuries. Matt Wilson sustained a hip trauma injury and will be a doubt for both Saturday and Monday. Gregg Anderson picked-up an ankle injury but should be fit for Saturday.
Russell Fry missed the Bradford game due to an AC Joint ligament sprain. Hopefully, he will be fit for Saturdays match, if not definitely Monday . All three players will have their injuries assessed during training on Thursday night.
