FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

Gloucester City v NFU (VCN)

Vanarama Conference North
Gloucester City v North Ferriby United
Sunday 4th  January 2015 ; KO 3.00 pm

Ferriby travel to Cheltenham on Sunday to play Gloucester City.

Ferriby are in 9th spot in the Vanarama Conference North whilst Gloucester are in 20th position and occupy one of the relegation positions. However, it is going to be another difficult game for The Villagers. They will need to be approaching their best form if they are to win and maintain their progress towards a play-off spot.

Manager Billy Heath and his players will not need reminding that there are no easy games in the Vanarama Conference North. They will be mindful of their recent defeat to bottom-placed Hyde.

The Villagers appear to be running in to form again, the Boxing day game at Gainsborough aside.

The other two festive games were both won. Whilst it took an added time goal to defeat Gainsborough on New Year’s Day, it was a just reward for a game that Ferriby dominated from start to finish. They could have win by five or six goals.

The three games over Christmas and New Year saw The Villagers gain  6 points which is a reasonable return. The points have helped Ferriby climb to ninth in the table, just three points from a play-off spot.

Manager Billy Heath commented, “It has been a pretty good Christmas period for us. We are climbing the table and beginning to pressure the sides above us. We now need to maintain our form and level of performance to progress in the league and the FA Trophy.

We played well in the home games against Boston and Gainsborough and looked the only winners in both games.”

Heath will have most of his squad available with the exception of Danny Emerton who is awaiting surgery and Danny Clarke who is unavailable. Clarke has made a surprise return to the club and came straight in to the side on New Year’s Day.

NFU’s probable squad :Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Louis Bruce, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Mark Gray, Gregg Anderson, Danny Hone Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry,  Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Ryan Kendall, Jason St Juste, Jamie Yates, Tim Taylor
