Vanarama Conference North
Gainsborough Trinity v North Ferriby United
Friday 26 December 2014 ; KO 3.00 pm
Ferriby begin the Christmas and New Year programme with a trip to Gainsborough trinity on Boxing Day. Both clubs will be hoping that history does not repeat itself as the same fixture last year was abandoned due to floodlight failure.
The Villagers are currently 12th in the Vanarama Conference North whilst Gainsborough are in 17th place.
The Villagers will be hoping to return with at least a point as they continue to seek a play-off spot.
Ferriby produced a good performance against Stockport County last Saturday and with a little more luck could have won. Ryan Kendall’s shot hit the inside of the post and bounced out on the stroke of half-time. Had that gone on, Ferriby would have been in the lead at the interval.
Ferriby continue to play attractive football and are creating plenty of scoring opportunities.
Looking towards Friday’s game, Heath commented, “It is the start of a busy and demanding period for the players. As well as looking to collect as many points as possible, we hope to avoid any more injuries. With games coming so quickly after each other there is very little time for players to recover.
“A good run of results as we enter the New Year will give us a platform to push up the division as the season progresses.”
Heath may have to be creative with his line-up as he has injury doubts over a number of players. Danny Emerton is out and Matt Wilson, Louis Bruce, Grant Black, Jamie Yates and Tom Corner are all doubtful.
Heath’s biggest problem is how to organise the team with so many right-sided players injured. Jamie Yates and Nathan Peat have played well at right-back in recent games even though both were playing out of position.”
NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Danny Hone, Mark Gray, Gregg Anderson, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry, Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Ryan Kendall, Jason St Juste, Jamie Yates, Matt Wilson
