Frickley Athletic v North Ferriby United
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Wednesday 26 December 2012 KO 3.00 pm
Manager Billy Heath and his assistant Mark Carroll take their League leaders to their former club Frickley Athletic on Boxing Day.
Frickley are just above the relegation zone but this is due to an appalling away record which has seen them lose all nine games. At home they have performed much better, losing only two of their 10 home fixtures. Last time out they beat second-placed Hednesford Town.
Frickley are always difficult opponents and Ferriby can expect a demanding game on what is almost certain to be a heavy surface following the recent rain. It will certainly be a game where the Ferriby players will have to show their character if they are to get a good result.
Heath commented, "It's certainly a good feeling to be top of the table at Christmas. We now need to work hard to stay there. A good set of results in the Christmas fixtures can rejuvenate, or even kick-start, a club's season and we need to continue the form we have shown during the first half of the season."
Heath and Carroll put their players though a two-hour training session on the Club's 4G surface on Saturday following the postponement of the match against AFC Fylde due to a waterlogged pitch.
The players were in great spirit throughout the session despite the continuing rain. Carroll said' "The players' attitude to training is absolutely top-notch. We started the season with a target of two points per game and we are on that target. We now need to maintain that momentum."
Steve Gardner remains a long-term injury but is back in full training. Gregg Anderson is unavailable for both the Frickley and Eastwood Town games. Otherwise, Heath should have a full squad to choose from.
Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Steve Ridley, Paul Foot, Dean Lisles, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Ben Hunter, Chris White
