FC United of Manchester v North Ferriby United
Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Sunday 3 March 2013 KO 3.00 pm
League leaders have a rare Sunday fixture when they play FC United of Manchester at Stalybridge Celtic's ground this weekend.
There is an added significance to this game as the promotion race heads towards its climax. FC United have climbed the table in recent weeks and are currently in third place. They are ten points behind Ferriby and have four games in hand.
Manager Billy Heath said, "The top spot is now out of our own hands to some extent. We need to win as many games as possible and hope that other clubs drop points. All games are important at this stage of the season but Saturday's game is particularly important to both clubs."
Heath was pleased with his side's midweek Doodson Sport league cup win at Blyth Spartans. Ferriby controlled the game for large periods and could have won by a bigger margin. Striker Gary Bradshaw celebrated his 400th appearance for the club by scoring the first goal. Anthony Wilson's late winner ensured Ferriby a quarter-final match at Eastwood Town on 12th March.
The title race looks to be between Ferriby, Hednesford town and FC United but the promotion race is wide open with another eight clubs chasing a play-off spot.
It is going to be a busy and exciting time over the next two months for Ferriby as they attempt to win promotion and the League and east Riding Senior Cups.
Heath should have a full squad to choose from apart. The only doubt is Danny Clarke who is recovering from a foot injury. Probable Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Paul Robson, Steve Ridley, Steve Gardner, Gregg Anderson, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Anthony Wilson, Ryan Kendall, Gary Bradshaw, Oliver Banks
