FA TROPHY HOLDERS 2015 & NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH PLAY-OFF CHAMPIONS 2016

Colwyn Bay v NFU (VCN)

Vanarama Conference North
Colwyn Bay v North Ferriby United

Saturday 13th September; KO 3.00 pm

Ferriby make the long journey to North Wales on Saturday to play Colwyn Bay. The Villagers will be looking to avoid a fourth successive defeat.

Colwyn Bay will prove a tough challenge at Llanelian Road but it is a ground where Ferriby have gained some success in the past. There is no doubt that the Ferriby players will be up for the game and keen t show that the recent results are just a blip.

There is still an upbeat feeling at the Eon Visual Media Stadium despite the recent losses. The defeat at Chorley on Tuesday was undeserved. The .Villagers had by far the better chances but went down to a single goal against the run of play. The Villagers luck can perhaps be best summed-up by the fact that Sam Ashton, Chorley’s keeper, was named man-of-the-match.

Whilst it is somewhat concerning that Ferriby are finding it difficult to score at the moment there is great encouragement in the fact that they are creating far more opportunities than most of their opponents.

Despite recent results, The Villagers are still sixth in the Vanarama Conference North. There are unexpected results every match day and there are no “easy” games for anybody. The topsy-turvey nature of the division was summed-up by Oxford City’s last two games. On Saturday they lost 8-1 at home to Fylde then travelled to Boston on Tuesday and won 7-2.

After Tuesday’s game Ferriby manager Billy Heath Heath commented,  “It was a good performance and we created plenty of chances. We are not having the best of luck in front of goal but we can take confidence from the performance. Another plus is that we came through the game without any injuries.”

Danny Emerton remains doubtful due to injury but Adam Bolder returns to the squad following a three match suspension.

NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Danny Hone Matt Wilson, Gregg Anderson, Mark Gray, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry,  Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Tom Corner, Jamie Yates, Dan Clayton, Louis Bruce
