Cleethorpes Town 1 North Ferriby United 1
Scorers: NFU: Jake Skelton 10
Cleethorpes: Alex Flett 85
The Villagers played poorly at Cleethorpes. It was really disappointing performance given that this was the final pre-season game.
Despite taking an early lead through Jake Skelton, The Villagers had only two further attempts on goal throughout the game. Skelton’s goal came after 10 minutes when he scrambled the ball home from Simon Russell’s corner.
from this point on the game largely belonged to Cleethorpes. Their attempts on goal were either off-target or found Jordan Douglas, in the first-half, and Craig Ellison in the second.
Town were quicker to the ball and stronger in the challenge. Caine Winfarrah and Andy Taylor were constant threats up front
Cleethorpes were often quicker to the ball and their passing was more accurate. A well-worked move saw late Alex Flett equalise with a low shot five minute from time. It was the very least that Cleethorpes deserved.
To be honest, The Villagers could not have complained if Town had won.
Ferriby manager Steve Housham was critical of his players after the game,
”The performance was nowhere near good enough. The attitude was wrong tonight. It doesn’t matter where we are or who we’re playing, the attitude has always got to be right.
“I apologise to the fans who travelled to the game and then paid to get in. they deserved better.”
