Buxton v North Ferriby United
FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round
Saturday 27th October 2012 KO 3.00 pm
League leaders Ferriby take a break from League action when they travel to league rivals Buxton in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy.
The two sides drew at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on the opening day of the season with Buxton equalising well-after the additional added time indicated by the referee.
Ferriby's midweek draw with FC United of Manchester saw them increase their lead at the top of the table to six points. Manager Billy Heath commented, "I expected us to be around the top of the table but not necessarily top at this stage. It's certainly a good position to be in!"
The FA Trophy has a double incentive for all clubs. First, there is the prize money and, second, there is the carrot of a place at Wembley in the Final. The later stages of the competition tend to be dominated by Conference teams but teams from Ferriby's level have reached the Final in fairly recent seasons.
Ferriby will be expecting something of an aerial onslaught at Buxton on Saturday. The Derbyshire side appear to have adopted a very direct style of play. The Villagers will find themselves up against former striker Lee Morris who recently had a brief spell at Ferriby.
Heath was pleased with his team's display against FC United, "It was a good point against a very good and bright team. We dealt with their attacking play, especially without our regular centre-back pairing. This was another really good team performance. We equalised at just the right time and deserved the point."
If the game ends in a draw, the replay will be on Tuesday 30th October.
Paul Foot may return to the squad after having a dead-leg injury. Gary Bradshaw has a hamstring injury and will not play. Defender Gregg Anderson will also miss the game due to a groin injury. Steve Gardner and Chris bolder sustained minor knocks on Tuesday but will, hopefully, be fit to play.
Ferriby squad: Adam Nicklin, Antoni Pecora, Steve Gardner, Dean Lisles, Paul Foot, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat, Liam King, Russell Fry, Danny Clarke, Chris Bolder, Ryan Williams, Jack Muldoon, Ryan Kendall, Ben Hunter, Steve Ridley
Ferriby have been drawn at home against Hornsea Town in the East Riding Senior Cup. The match is scheduled for Tuesday 6th November with a 7.45 kick-off with admission costing £2 and £1.
